Mozambique’s Attorney-General, Joaquim Madeira, has said that it is still “premature” to give any information on the murder of prominent Maputo journalist Carlos Cardoso, ‘Metical’, the paper he edited, reported on Monday.
Madeira said doing so at this time could jeopardise the on-going investigations into the murder. More than a month after Cardoso’s assassination on 22 November, the police have not publicly come up with any leads that could shed light on the slaying. Cardoso, who was gunned down in a Maputo street was renowned for his investigate journalism that could have made him a number of enemies.
