Villagers, soldiers wounded in attacks

    JOHANNESBURG

    Two villagers and two members of Namibia’s Defence Force (NDF) were wounded on Sunday in a village east of Rundu after an attack by suspected members of Angola’s rebel UNITA movement, ‘The Namibian’ reported on Monday.

    The newspaper said the two villagers were wounded after an armed group of about 30 entered a homestead and opened fire on the occupants while they were sleeping. The attackers reportedly stole food, clothes and personal documents before fleeing.
    The two soldiers, who went to investigate the shooting, detonated a landmine in the village, added the reports. One soldier lost a leg in the explosion while the other injured an eye.
