Opposition official dies

The chairman of the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) in the central town of Kwekwe died on Thursday from injuries sustained earlier this month when he was attacked by members of the ruling ZANU-PF party of President Robert Mugabe, media reports said.
Mandishona Mutyanda, 60, died in a Harare hospital following the attack on 18 June. Mutyanda becomes victim 33 of the four-month political violence that preceded last weekend’s parliamentary elections which were won by ZANU-PF by a narrow margin.
