As Zimbabweans waited to see how President Robert Mugabe would form his next government following the largest political gains made by an opposition party since he came to power 20 years ago, the ruling party Politburo was locked in discussions on the issue this week.
According to the official daily, ‘The Herald’, the talks were set to continue through Friday and possibly into the weekend. The ruling ZANU-PF party garnered 62 seats against 57 by opposition Movement for Democratic Change (MDC). The MDC gains prevented the ruling party from getting the two-thirds majority it would require to amend the constitution.
