President seeks help to stop oil pollution

Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo sought international help on Tuesday to prevent oil pollution by multinational corporations operating in the southeast of his country, AFP reported. He made his appeal in Stavangerat, Norway, at an oil production safety conference attended by 1,500 delegates from 40 countries.

Earlier this year, Norwegian Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg visited Nigeria - the world’s sixth largest oil producer - and offered to provide advice and technology.
