The opposition party, the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) was quoted on Friday as saying that 14 of its election monitors had been abducted.
“We don’t know where they have been taken. But we are now conducting searches for them,” David Coltart, legal representative for MDC told Reuters. The 14 MDC members had been assigned to monitor voting at polling stations and were abducted from towns and villages surrounding Zimbabwe’s second city of Bulawayo, he said.
