Lawyers for the Nigeria government have asked Liechtenstein to help it retrieve some US $100 million of looted state funds thought to have been placed in three of the principality’s banks by former military ruler Sani Abacha, AFP reported lawyers as saying on Wednesday.
The Swiss lawyer representing the Nigerian government said his team had met the head of the principality’s legal department and asked for help. Swiss authorities have already frozen up to US $ 654 million in accounts linked to Abacha, AFP said.
