A team of six election observers from the Commonwealth arrived in Zimbabwe this week to begin monitoring the run-up to the country’s parliamentary elections scheduled for 24-25 June, a Commonwealth spokeswoman told IRIN on Wednesday.
She said that in coming days the team would be boosted to a total of 44 observers who would fan out across the country. Observers from the European Union and the Southern African Development Community (SADC) have also started arriving in Zimbabwe, officials said.
