Minister cautions people in Kavango

    JOHANNESBURG

    The Minister of Defence Erkki Nghimtina on Tuesday called on people living along the Kavango river border with Angola not to move around at night as of Thursday this week, ‘The Namibian’ said on Wednesday.

    Nghimtina told ‘The Namibian’ that the “control measure” was being introduced to enable the Defence Force to “flush out” bandits who have been launching night-time raids on Namibian villages. “We want to control movements across the river at night so that we don’t make mistakes,” he said.

    Nghimtina added that any unauthorised person seen moving around in the vicinity of the river at night from Thursday onwards would be regarded as hostile.
