The Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development of the northern state of Kano says it will soon conduct a census of destitute people and then return out-of-state residents to their areas of origin, ‘The Guardian’ reported.
At a monthly briefing, the commissioner of the ministry, Hajiya Halima Salisu Soda, said many destitute people who were not Kano residents were roaming the city’s streets. She said they had likely been brought to the city because of its commercial might.
