Forty Sierra Leonean military officers have travelled to Ghana to take part in an eight-week training programme at the Ghana Military Academy, the Sierra Leone News Agency (SLENA) reported on Thursday.
The course, sponsored by the British government, will provide the officers with general skills ranging from human rights to military staff training. It is part of a long-term training strategy for military officers and civil servants which aims to provide Sierra Leone with a professional, accountable army under effective democratic control, SLENA said.
