Minister urges peaceful poll

Zimbabwe’s State Security Minister, Sydney Sekeremayi, has called for an end to political violence ahead of next month’s election saying that it could damage his country’s reputation.

“Election monitors are coming and some are already here. We want to hold the elections peacefully. We do not want the monitors to write reports that people were intimated,” Sekeremayi told the state-owned ‘The Herald’ newspaper.

Warning against violence he said: “There are foreign reporters in the country who are already writing negative reports about Zimbabwe.”
