Relative of secessionist leader arrested

    JOHANNESBURG

    The nephew of alleged secessionist leader Mishake Muyongo was among three people detained by Namibian security officials last week in connection with last year’s outbreak of secessionist violence in the Caprivi Strip, ‘The Namibian’ reported on Monday.

    According to the report, MacNelly Mutame, a chief customs officer in the Ministry of Finance and nephew of Muyongo’s, was arrested at his Academia residence in Windhoek on Wednesday. Lister Libonani Tutalife (37), a warrant officer in the Ministry of Prisons and Correctional Services, was arrested at his workplace at Luderitz last Tuesday, while a third unnamed man was held at Oshakati.

    Police spokesman Chief Inspector Hophni Hamufungu confirmed the arrests, the report added.
