After meeting with Mugabe and leaders of the Zimbabwean national Liberation War Veterans, a CFU spokesman said at the weekend that an unspecified number of white farmers had decided to transfer some of their lands to the state in an exchange for an end to the violence.
Officials said the two sides had agreed with Mugabe to set up a joint commission to oversee land distribution in Zimbabwe.
The commission would identify white-owned land to be allocated to landless blacks, and handle compensation and set a time-table for the programme.
