Renewed fighting threatens relief effort

    NAIROBI

    WFP is concerned that renewed fighting will further hamper relief efforts, especially the emergency operation to assist internally displaced persons in Ethiopia, said a UN spokesperson in New York. WFP reported some movement of people into Mekele, northern Ethiopia, from areas closer to the border. The agency is assessing the needs and the conditions of the newly displaced peoples, said the spokesperson.
