New landmine deaths

At least 10 people were killed and 21 others seriously wounded when the vehicle in which they were travelling in detonated an anti-tank landmine last week in the northern province of Uige, the state news agency, Angop reported.

It said the incident on 28 April was the third involving vehicles setting landmines off in two weeks.

“A Toyota set off a landmine supplemented with TNT charges at Seca, a village situated between the Senga and Kulo settlements, 15 km from the city of Uige. The wounded, including six children, have been admitted to the Uige Provincial Hospital,” the news agency said. It gave no further details of the incident.
