UK provides technical adviser to facilitator

Meanwhile, the United Kingdom on Friday said it had offered a technical adviser to the facilitator to assist him in all aspects of the inter-Congolese negotiations, "including helping to coordinate support from international donors." A press release from the British High Commission in Uganda said that the technical adviser, Philip Winter, would begin work in the Botswana capital, Gaborone. Winter has worked extensively in central Africa over the last 20 years, it said. "We believe
that it is vital that an open and inclusive Inter-Congolese dialogue, as provided for in the Lusaka Agreement, gets underway soon," the statement said, adding that the UK had already provided financial support to help implement the Lusaka accord.
