Angolan authorities on Monday said 33 people were killed and 17 injured in two landmine explosions in the northern province of Uige.
Quoting government sources, Angolan state radio said two civilian vehicles carrying traders set off two anti-tank landmines on Sunday. It said the two explosions occurred on the same road about six km apart, and blamed the rebel UNITA movement of Jonas Savimbi for planting the mines.
