Concern about Russian pilots

The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed "extreme concern" about the fate of six Russian airmen held by the Angolan UNITA rebel movement, the Russian news agency ITAR-TASS said on Tuesday.

The Russian Foreign Ministry was quoted as saying that it had been two months since UNITA announced the freeing of the men. It had since received no further information about the whereabouts and the status of the airmen.

"The protracted silence around this problem can produce a wrong impression about the actual intentions of UNITA and its leaders on both the Russian and international public," the ministry said.
