AFRC arrested over zinc theft

Between 50 and 60 Armed Forces Revolutionary Council (AFRC) fighters were arrested over the weekend by Nigerian UN troops for stealing roofing materials, the UNAMSIL information office told IRIN on Monday.

They were arrested in the Occra Hills just east of Freetown and handed over to the Sierra Leone police. At the time of their arrest they were heading for Freetown to sell the materials, which, according to the BBC, they had stolen from houses in the Maforki and Loko Masama Chiefdoms of Port Loko District.
