Eight charged with trying to murder governor

Eight people suspected of involvement in an attack last week on Lagos State Governor Bola Tinubu were formally charged on Friday with conspiracy to commit felony and attempted murder, AFP quoted judicial sources as saying.

The suspects, members of the militant Yoruba Oodua People's Congress, made no pleas in court. The judge ordered that they be remanded in custody in Ikoyi Prison until 12 January, when the case is to be heard.
