South Africa, Mozambique and Zimbabwe have agreed to jointly manage three nature reserves and so create a transborder conservation area, media reports said on Monday.
The three national parks are South Africa’s Kruger Park, Mozambique’s Gaza Park and Zimbabwe’s Gonarezhou Park. Reports quoted the agreement signed between the three countries as saying: “Ecosystems transcend national boundaries” and that there was a “need for transborder cooperation in the conservation and management of the shared natural resources.” Reports said that the new agreement aimed to “promote biodiversity and socio-economic development in the area.”
