Sanctions panel recruits Chinese oil expert

The UN has appointed a Chinese oil expert to help it investigate the sanctions evasion by the UNITA rebel movement, media reports said on Monday.

Jinping Cheng, joins the six member sanctions panel which is investigating funding sources for the UNITA. Other members of the panel include experts from Zimbabwe, Namibia, France, Britain and Russia. The UN has banned the import of Angolan diamonds without a certificate of origin. The sanction also forbid the sale of arms and oil to Unita as well as other financial support.
