Government accuses RCD-Goma, MLC of breaching truce

However, Major Leon Richard Kasonga of the Forces armees congolaises (FAC) said it was RCD-Goma that had attacked government troops in central Kasai. The rebels’ delay in joining the Joint Military Commission (JMC) was merely “intended to enable them to gain more territory and time in which to enhance their firepower”, Kasonga added. Speaking on Congolese television on Sunday, Kasonga also claimed the rebel Mouvement de liberation congolais (MLC) had on Friday attacked government troops and occupied a number of localities in Bomongo region, Equateur province.
