Oil production to rise to over one million barrels day

State-owned oil firm Sonangol has said it expected Angola's total oil production for 1999 to average 800,000 barrels per day, rising to 1.4 million in 2003, media reports said on Monday. "These are approximate, conservative estimates," Sonangol's Director of Negotiations Jorge VanDeste was quoted as saying. VanDeste said his projections included current oil operations plus only those prospective ones that had already received government approval, adding new discoveries were likely to inflate the outlook.
