Protest over deportation

    JOHANNESBURG
    Mozambique has formally protested to Zimbabwe over the deportation of about 600 illegal Mozambicans from Zimbabwe last week, news reports said. The Mozambicans argued that Zimbabwe breached an immigration agreement with its neighbour by not informing Mozambique it was planning to deport its citizens. At the same time, the reports quoted the deportees as saying they had not been allowed to collect their belongings before they were dumped across the border. The Zimbabwean high commissioner in Mozambique reportedly admitted that mistakes were committed when the deportations were carried out.
