IMF to implement economic monitoring

The International Monetary Fund is expected to implement a new economic monitoring programme in Angola, PANA reported on Monday. The news agency said the programme should help pave the way for future financial aid to the southern African country. The programme stipulates that the Angolan government must control expenditure strictly, reduce the number of civil servants, bring down the inflation rate, and make its accounts more transparent. The government would also have to gradually remove its foreign exchange laws and privatise the banking industry.
