The Southern African Development Community (SADC) will hold its August summit in Mozambique, where a new chairman will be elected to replace South Africa's former president Nelson Mandela, media reports said on Monday.
A spokesman for the SADC office in Maputo said the election of a new chairperson was among the issues high on the agenda of the annual summit on 18 August. The summit will review the political and economic situation of the region, food security and the HIV/AIDS pandemic which has ravaged the southern African region, the reports said.
