Zimbabwe’s Minister of State for Enterprises and Indigenisation, Cephas Msipa said at the weekend his government would complete its privatisation programme by selling off about 50 public enterprises within two years.
The official ‘The Herald’ daily quoted Msipa as saying the privatisation process would be carried out in view of the current economic environment. “At the moment the indigenous people cannot afford to raise the money required to acquire companies that are being privatised because of punitive interest rates and other economic factors,” Msipa reportedly said.
