Priest reported killed

An Angolan Catholic priest who had served in the Huambo archdiocese was reported killed this week by unidentified gunmen, the Luanda-based broadcasting station, 'Radio Ecclesia', reported this week. It said the priest, Carlos Francisco, 70, had served for over 20 years at a mission station in Londiumbale, some 100 km northwest of the central highlands capital, Huambo. "Contact between the mission and the provincial archdiocese has been lost for some time," it said. "A witness from the mission brought news of the priest's murder by armed men. There are no details about the motive or the identity of the armed men." It said church authorities were still trying to obtain further details.
