ICRC launches global appeal - half for Africa

The International Committee of the Red Cross launched an appeal for 660 million Swiss francs (US $480 million) earlier this week. An ICRC spokesperson in Geneva told IRIN that 48.2 percent of the appeal would be for work in Africa. Countries targeted include Angola, Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo, Republic of Congo, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Liberia, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sudan and Uganda, according to an ICRC budget summary sent to IRIN today.
