Provincial commissioners removed

President Omar al-Bahir has removed several provicial commissioners in the face of intensified fighting in the south. A decree issued on Tuesday appointed new provincial commissioners in the southern states of North Bahr al Ghazal, Buhayrat, Warab, Wahdah, Upper Nile and West Bahr al Ghazal. New provincial commissioners were also appointed in the northern states of the Red Sea, South Darfur, Khartoum, Sinnar, North Darfur, North Kordofan, West Darfur, Gedarif, River Nile and the Blue Nile, said a state television report. Many of the new appointments are in areas affected by attacks by the Sudan Peoples Liberation Army (SPLA).
