Annan commissions peacekeeping centre

    ABIDJAN

    UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan commissioned an international peacekeeping training centre on Tuesday, in a ground-breaking ceremony at the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College in Teshie, the UN said.

    The Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre will be placed at the disposal of African armies. The Economic Community of West African States’ Defence and Security Commission on 19 July designated it a training facility for the subregion’s peacekeeping force, ECOMOG.
