Delegates split into ethnic groups at Arusha

Meanwhile, delegates in Arusha continued their closed-door consultations on Tuesday, the Hirondelle news agency reported. It cited sources close to the talks as saying the delegates split into two groups for the deliberations: the pro-Hutu Group of Seven (G7) and a new pro-Tutsi Group of 10 (G10). It is hoped that an overall consensus can be found after the two groups submit their proposals. A plenary session is due to be held on Wednesday. Delegates are also discussing mechanisms to ensure the security of exiled political leaders and civilians who want to return to Burundi.
