Farmers union says violence continues

White-owned farms in Zimbabwe remain targets of invasions, beatings, and other intimidation the Commercial Farmers Union (CFU) said on Wednesday.

A statement said the CFU had received reports of four beatings, 17 cases of intimidation, and dozens of new farm invasions during the past week. Three farm workers were assaulted on Monday by an unknown group of people who stopped the labourers’ farm trailer, let the air out of the tires, and beat the workers, the union said.

Another man was assaulted Saturday by a group of liberation war veterans, who stopped his bakery delivery truck, beat him, and damaged his vehicle, the CFU said.
