Christians in the northern Nigerian state of Kaduna have renewed their call for a probe into recent riots in the cities of Kaduna and Lagos, ‘The Guardian’ of Lagos reported on Monday.
The Penticostal Fellowship of Nigeria said it wanted a judicial panel to investigate the violence, which occurred in February and May in Kaduna and in October in Lagos. If similar unrest broke out again, the group said, retaliation would follow. It did not specify what kind of retaliation.
Christians were targeted in the Kaduna violence, and Hausas - a northern ethnic group - were attacked in the Lagos unrest. Hundreds of people have been killed in ethnic and religious clashes in Nigeria in the past year.
