Kenema hospital gets water pipeline

    The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has built a five-km water pipeline for the government hospital in Kenema which will allow overflowed water to feed into the town's water system, OCHA said in its situation report covering 7-22 December. The ICRC has also rehabilitated shallow wells in the town, while UNICEF has helped built 15 new wells for schools and Peripheral Health Units (PHU), the report said.

    The ICRC also installed a drinking water system equipped with two bladder tanks and 32 latrines in the Niawama camp for IDPs. The tanks will provide clean water for 2,500 people.

    During the same reporting period, the World Food Programme (WFP) distributed
    234 mt of food to 19,674 beneficiaries, the bulk of it going to the 15,153 IDPs living in the Blama camp who received 205 mt of the food.
