Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo says his country has consistently recorded a decline in the HIV prevalence rate over the last five years.
Obasanjo noted in a statement on Friday that the national prevalence rate, which stood at 5.8 percent in 2001, had dropped to 5 percent in 2003 and to 4.4 percent in 2005.
However, he warned that a lot more still needed to be done in the areas of advocacy and the management of AIDS, and called for greater intervention by international communities.
