The US government will provide care packages to help 200,000 HIV-positive people avoid opportunistic infections and live longer.
The kits will be distributed by a Uganda-based care and support organisations across the country over the next five years.
The project was developed by the US Centre for Disease Control and Prevention in collaboration with Uganda's Ministry of Health, and is funded by the US President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief, the Monitor newspaper reported.
Basic care package kits will include Cotrimoxazole prophylaxis, a broad-spectrum antibiotic recommended by the World Health Organisation, long lasting insecticide-treated mosquito nets, water disinfecting products and vessels and condoms.
