Italy has confirmed its continued support of Zambia's battle against HIV/AIDS.
The Italian ambassador to Zambia, Tullio Guma, named the country as one of the beneficiaries of more than US $7 million his government has pledged to address the impact of HIV/AIDS in the region.
Guma told a local newspaper, The Times of Zambia, that Italy was proud to continue its assistance to Zambia, as the country "had shown its capabilities and potential".
An Italian drug firm, Pharco Limited, is also expected to start the local manufacturing of anti-AIDS drugs soon.
