Zimbabwean opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai promised better treatment for people living with HIV/AIDS at a weekend rally in Bulawayo, the provincial capital of Matabeleland.
Addressing an audience, Tsvangirai decried the traditional practice of 'wife inheritance' and urged greater use of condoms among sexually active youth.
Reuters quoted Tsvangirai as saying: "The youth, especially, must be careful and use condoms - three [at the same time] ... if necessary - to stop the spread of AIDS."
The UN Children's Agency (UNICEF) recently estimated that HIV/AIDS claims the life of a Zimbabwean child every 15 minutes.
