The Africa Centre for Health and Population Studies, an AIDS treatment programme in South Africa's KwaZulu-Natal province, has received a financial boost from the US President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR).
United States ambassador to the country, Jendayi Frazer, along with the director of the treatment programme, Dr Michael Bennish, on Thursday signed the grant agreement for just over $320,000.
According to an embassy statement, the treatment initiative will be carried out over two years and provide anti-AIDS drug treatment therapy as well as counselling services.
PEPFAR aims to spend $15 billion on HIV/AIDS treatment, prevention and care in African and Caribbean countries.
