Free medical care for HIV-positive children

    JOHANNESBURG

    Healthcare professionals from the United States are voluntarily treating the dental problems of HIV-positive children in Uganda.

    A team of 30 dentists are working at the Mildmay Centre in the capital, Kampala, and Tororo District in the east.

    Mildmay's director of clinical services, Dr Emmanuel Luyirika, told a local newspaper, New Vision, that dental problems were common among children living with HIV and AIDS.

    Youngsters are estimated to make up at least 10 percent of the country's one million HIV-positive people.
