Kiddie AIDS clinics on horizon

Drug giant Bristol-Myers Squibb is funding the development of two new paediatric HIV/AIDS clinics in Lesotho and Swaziland through its programme, 'Secure The Future'. John McGoldrick, Executive Vice President of Bristol-Myers Squibb, said in a statement: "Thousands of children in these countries are either infected with HIV/AIDS or orphaned as a result of it. We are proud to be working in partnership with the governments of Lesotho and Swaziland to further expand this pioneering paediatric HIV/AIDS programme." Health experts and NGOs at the International AIDS Conference, held in Thailand earlier this year, expressed concern that children were being forgotten in global efforts to manage and treat HIV and AIDS. Approximately 2 million children aged 14 and under are living with HIV in Africa and 12 million have been orphaned by the virus.
