Global Fund millions bring cheaper AIDS drugs

    JOHANNESBURG

    Cameroon's Ministry of Health reduced the cost of anti-AIDS drugs on Friday from just over US $55 to around $13 per person per month.

    According to the Pan African News Agency, Health Minister Urbain Olanguena Awono attributed the reduction to a Global AIDS Fund pledge of more than $94 million.

    Ten sites have been designated to increase access to antiretroviral treatment.

    The National Committee for the Control of AIDS estimates that 12 percent of adults are living with HIV and AIDS.
