Anti-AIDS website for youth

    JOHANNESBURG
    A programme being implemented in Zambia, Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania is using the Internet to disseminate HIV/AIDS prevention messages. The AIDS organisation, Africa Alive Uganda, is targeting the youth with reproductive health messages on behavioural change on its website. "When you visit all the Internet cafes, you find young people surfing pornographic material. We are using the same medium to ... carry messages for the youth on abstinence, use of condoms, testing for HIV, and what is involved in the testing exercise," a local newspaper, New Vision, quoted the NGO's national programme coordinator, John Mubangizi, as saying. The initiative is funded by the US Agency for International Development (USAID), the Department for International Development (DFID) and the World Bank.
