Belgian firm to manufacture condoms

A new condom brand, Zazoo Essential, will hit Nigerian markets in September 2004. The Belgium-based organisation, Personal Comfort Services (PCS), in partnership with Nigerian company Globle Intertrade Limited, is to establish a condom manufacturing company in Nigeria to produce the new "African" condom in an effort to combat HIV/AIDS, while creating over 10,000 job opportunities. PCS Managing Director Luc Van Den Broeck told the South African newspaper, This Day, that the high rate of sexually transmitted diseases and uncontrolled child birth throughout African countries, coupled with the need for creating job opportunities, were among the critical factors that had compelled the decision to establish a condom manufacturing operation in Africa. Van Den Broeck said the condoms would soon be distributed across the continent.
