The health department of South Africa's North West province has announced that a comprehensive plan to roll out HIV/AIDS treatment was already in progress.
Speaking during the department's recent 2004/05 budget presentation, health MEC Mandlenkosi Mayisela said the plan was currently operational in three of the four identified health sites.
"By the middle of this financial year, we will fill all vacant posts especially those of community medical officers in areas targeted for the comprehensive plan," Mayisela was quoted by the South African Press Association as saying.
There are enough drugs to cater for 50 patients per site in the first month of the roll-out, Mayisela confirmed.
