The Premier of South Africa's KwaZulu-Natal Province, Sbu Ndebele, has announced a comprehensive strategy to fight HIV/AIDS.
The province's new strategy will include accrediting more institutions to administer anti-AIDS drugs and increasing the number of patients on the treatment programme.
Delivering his state-of-the-province address recently, Ndebele said the department of health was currently providing voluntary counselling and testing to determine HIV status, as well as CD4-count and viral load tests.
According to a local newspaper, The Mercury, Ndebele said eight institutions were now accredited and could administer antiretrovirals to 200 patients, 12 more sites would be added by early June, and this number would expand to 30 by September.
