Boost for AIDS training and education

Canada has pledged close to US $60,000 to assist the Women and AIDS Support Network (WASN) in Zimbabwe with HIV/AIDS training and education. The WASN's education and training programme is expected to strengthen AIDS Service Organisations (ASOs) throughout the country. John Schram, the Canadian ambassador to Zimbabwe, told a local newspaper, The Herald, there had been little programming by ASOs which specifically addressed the unique needs of women and girls in HIV/AIDS, sexual reproduction health and rights. "Yet, we can see that it is women who have the biggest challenge in dealing with the effects of HIV/Aids," Schram said.
